thankful

This morning I read this post and decided until Thanksgiving I'm going to post some things we're grateful for...

:: Gingerbread Creamer. It's become somewhat of a ritual as it marks the start of the holiday season. Even better in my MPR Red Wing Pottery mug.

:: Stickers from my teacher friend Heather. Only a good teacher can know what can entertain children for such a long period of time!

:: Caroline's coos and subtle, yet frequent smiles.

:: Doughnuts from our favorite doughnut shop which make the H1N1 shot a bit more bearable.

:: Jumping on the neighbor's trampoline. (I cannot believe these are the first trampoline pictures to make the blog considering the amount of hours we've logged in there! One of Julia's first words was "jump.")

:: Some warm cozy hand knits, a hat by Kerry and a blanket by Nana. And those cheeks. Wow, those cheeks!

What are you thankful for?

knitting needles

I've been on a bit of a knitting kick lately. After Kip and Julia are down for the night and Caroline is kicking on the floor, Bill and I usually sit on the couch and chat a bit. Then I want some quiet knitting time. Here's what's on the needles...

:: I knit Julia a pair of legwarmies. She's having none of them so I think they're going to be passed on to a niece.

:: Some good friends are adopting a baby in December hence the candy cane pixie hat from Debbie Bliss' Simply Baby. Here's the ravelry link.

:: And here's the start of my February Lady Sweater. I'm so excited about the green and will hopefully be done by February. I have this thought in my head that if I knit myself a sweater every year I'll have a great collection of sweaters and just think of what a good knitter I'll be by eighty!

christmas picture

The three kids were all sitting on the couch this weekend and Bill yelled, "Grab the camera. Christmas picture!"

We'll keep working on it!

sleeping beauty

I love the pursed lips and the soft, spikey hair. And I love that she sleeps.

yoga

I bought this yoga dvd in my nesting stage while pregnant. I thought it would give the kids something to do while I am caring for baby. And it's doing just that. Kip especially likes doing the handstands, but I couldn't get a picture of that 'cause I was holding his feet.

I pulled out an Ikea rug for the kids to do it on and Kip suggested flipping it over so it would be sticky. Smart thinking, man!

Have a great weekend!

our quiet morning

Last night we had salmon for dinner and Kip said, "I really like this Simon." We got talking about salmon and how some live in Alaska and how the bears like to eat them. We found this great youtube video and had to watch it again this morning. Followed by...

:: Reading books on the couch

:: Eating a second breakfast of toast with normal butter (not peanut better) and jelly

:: Watching Dinosaur Train and a little Sesame Street

:: With Caroline sleeping in the sling for most of it.

third child bath time

My family went on a camping trip to Acadia National Park when I was in junior high. We were camping in Vermont one night and my parents were sharing stories of when my sisters and I were young. They could not remember many about Abby, my youngest sister, and she got quite upset and sat in the corner of the campsite in a lawn chair pouting. My mom took a picture to document and the story lives on. It's the fate of the youngest child.

So we have no picture of the first bath for Miss Caroline. Or her second bath. But here's a bath when she's about 5 weeks old. She always screams initially and then relaxes a bit. Kip is a good assistant and Julia tries to give her bath toys.
